The teaching plan that the Toral de los Vados school will develop consists of a series of workshops that try to strengthen digital education against the classic method based on the blackboard and the textbookThe public school of the Bercian municipality of Toral de los Vados is one of the four educational centers that participate in the Erasmus project 'Model Teachers 3.0', co-financed by the European Union, along with three other schools from Portugal, Romania and Turkey."The main objective of the project is to increase the capacity of each school to offer a high-quality education, and for this we intend to strengthen the status of teachers inside and outside the participating schools," explains the director of the school, Teresa Guzmán.With the start of the new course, the Berciano school hosts during these days the first of the activities of the program, which will take place during the next two courses.Throughout the week, four teachers from each of the other participating centers visited the Toral school facilities and participated in a series of digital workshops with all the center's students, Ical describes.Experimentation, research and innovation are the axes of some workshops that aim to strengthen digital education against the classic method based on the traditional blackboard and the textbook. In this way, the activities are oriented towards topics such as robotic science, mathematical synergies, home automation gardens, virtual reality, video editing with chroma key or the creation of mobile microscopes. All the workshops are carried out with the center's own material and are carried out by internal teachers, with the occasional help of an external teacher, says Guzmán.“I believe that the teacher is a key player in the education and childhood of children and that they can mark them for their future. However, Spanish society does not see it that way”, regrets the director.Perhaps due to a matter of professional deformation, Guzmán qualifies -never better said- the first contacts with foreign teachers as "ten".“They are delighted with the activities we have done and we with them, because they collaborate in everything”, explains the director of the Berciano school, as Ical collects. In an "enriching in every way" experience, teachers from Bierzo and international teachers share a table at the end of each school day.In the afternoons, the expedition stars in various cultural visits around the territory of the region, with the World Heritage Site of Las Médulas as the star of the programme. From now on, the rest of the program will be developed in a similar way, with cross visits between the teachers of the rest of the centers to the school that acts as host on each occasion. In January of next year, the second activity will take place in Portugal, oriented towards educational mini-projects.Ical reports that in the month of May, teachers will meet in Romania to investigate learning outside of school. The visit program will close in October 2023 in Turkey, with a conference aimed at discussing the teaching model of the future.Through these meetings, explains the director of the Berciano school, the participating centers will design a set of varied teaching materials and specific tasks for the different subjects, with an emphasis on mathematics and science. These materials will be used in real classes after the project is finished."We are very excited about this project because the exchange of experiences between schools and teachers is very beneficial for the students, who are the ones who really matter in the educational process," explains Guzmán.“We hope to learn a lot and exchange a lot of experiences and hopes with our European colleagues”, she concludes. The only project in Castilla y LeónThe Erasmus KA210-SCH projects have School Education as their field and this year only 22 have been granted in all of Spain. In Castilla León, the only project of this type granted is the one to be developed by Ceip Toral de los Vados."For us it is a great challenge, because being the only school in the Community, we do not have any reference center that can help us with issues that arise when developing the project," acknowledges Guzmán, who values the participation of the Bercian school as "a very enriching opportunity for the entire educational community".Ical clarifies that in addition to the Berciano school, the Group of Schools number 3 from the town of Rio Tinto, in the Portuguese municipality of Gondomar, located on the outskirts of Porto, participate in this project;the Scoala Gimnaziala 'Mihai Viteazul' in the Romanian city of Braila;and the Suleyman Túrkmani Primary School, in the Turkish city of Kirsehir.“We have worked with the other three centers on European eTwinning projects, but we really won't know anything about their educational reality until we go to visit them”, acknowledges the director.Castile and Leon Newspaper
