CNSS reduces by 50% the copay for high-cost diseases

Meeting of members of the CNSS.The National Social Security Council (CNSS), through resolution 553-02, approved reducing by 50% the copayment of the Family Health Insurance (SFS) of the Contributory Regime in hospitalization services, cesarean sections, surgeries, kidney transplants and other diseases of high price.With this decision, the governing body of the Dominican Social Security System (SDSS), contributes to reducing out-of-pocket spending, taking into account that these health services represent the greatest demand for care requested by members, according to a proposal sent by the Superintendence of Occupational Health and Risks (Sisalril) to the CNSS.During an ordinary meeting headed by the Minister of Labor and president of the CNSS, Luis Miguel De Camps, the Council approved the expansion of the coverage of high-cost drugs for cancer treatment to RD$1,000,000, including neoadjuvant, adjuvant and palliative drugs, thus raising this cap to RD$2,090,000;maintaining the coverage of RD$1,000,000 for all the services included in the different medications.The resolution also extends the coverage of high-cost medications to RD$1,000,000 for other non-cancer pathologies, such as growth disorders, rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, kidney disease, hemophilia, immunodeficiencies, Kawasaki disease, thrombocytopenia purpura , gamma globulinemias and multiple sclerosis and others with benign characteristics that require such treatments.It also includes coverage of devices, materials and equipment for continuous use and necessary in the performance of minimally invasive procedures, with the new inclusion of: electrocoagulation, hemostasis and mechanical sutures, microscope, neuronavigator, ultrasonic aspirator and neuromonitor for procedures contemplated in the PDSS, thus expanding access to devices that avoid the risk of trans and postoperative injuries, as well as prolonged hospital stays, among others.Another benefit included is the use of the laparoscope, materials and access devices (trocars, forceps and scissors for electrocoagulation and vessel sealing), for all procedures that are described in the Health Service Plan (PDSS) under this approach, including appendectomy, to cite one of the main causes of hospitalization for surgical disease in our country.An added benefit, of wide demand and necessary inclusion, is the coverage of continuous renal replacement hemodialysis for members with acute kidney failure with a maximum of three sessions per event, that is, up to 72 hours of treatment, according to indications and relevance.This service will be guaranteed as part of the coverage limited to one million pesos for dialysis.These new inclusions, will have as a source of financing, the Health Care Account of the people of the SFS of the Contributory Regime, the monthly capita rises from RD$1,327.81 to RD$1,490.14, with a per capita increase of RD$162.33, corresponding to the Contributory Regime , except for additional affiliates, for whom the holders must pay said capitation.The resolution also includes the reimbursement by the ARS to the affiliates and their direct dependents in expenses incurred for the benefits they stopped receiving included in the new measure, as of its effectiveness, retroactive to August 1, 2022.The CNSS said that through these provisions, it seeks to contain the health expenditure of Dominican families, reaffirming once again the commitment of the institutions that advocate for the guarantee of rights to health and social security.HOY Newspaper: We are a highly credible medium, constantly updated and that offers varied and complete information on politics, economy, sports and entertainment, both nationally and internationally.Av.
